Frequently asked questions

We now have an FAQ list that we hope will help
you answer some of the more common ones.

1. Do I need to report parking spots manually ?

Android: No, parking spots are reported automatically once the mobile app is configured.

IOS: No, parking spots are reported automatically by using the PeerPark device and the mobile app that is installed on your device which are connected via bluetooth.

2. Is the PeerPark device necessary for the app to work ?

Android: No

IOS: At the moment the PeerPark device is needed for IOS version of the app in order for the user to have a full functional map when using the app. Due to the way the app operates and the restrictions of IOS without the PeerPark device you will not be contributing to the PeerPark community which is not fair for other users. Therefore the app will not be fully functional (available spots won’t be shown) until you get the PeerPark device and sync it with your profile.

3. Is my location always tracked ?

Even though you must allow your location to be shared with the app, your location is only tracked when you are leaving your parking spot. We do not track your location at all time.

4. Is PeerPark free to use ?

Android: The PeerPark app is free.

IOS: The PeerPark app is free, but you need to purchase the PeerPark usb device in order to be able to share empty street parking spots.

5. I got a “Report a parking spot in the next few days to prevent limited functions of the map. Click here to get more info” warning

Since PeerPark is a peer to peer app, we rely on you, our users, to keep the map operational. If a user has prolonged inactivity, the app will warn you to report a parking spot again to avoid limited functionality of the map (street signs only). After a spot is reported, the message will disappear.

6. I got a “Report a parking spot to enable all functions of the map again. Click here to get more info” warning

Since PeerPark is a peer to peer app, we rely on you, our users, to keep the map operational. If a user has prolonged inactivity, the map will be limited to street signs viewing only until a spot is reported by the user again. After the a spot is reported, the message will disappear.

7. Why location permissions have to be set to 'Always' ? (IOS Only)

Since the app reports parking spots automatically even if it is in the background, it needs to have access to the location of the user whenever he/she is driving away from a spot.

8. Can I use PeerPark If I don't have a usb port in my car ? (IOS Only)

Unfortunately the PeerPark device is only compatible with usb ports at the moment.

9. What if I lose the PeerPark device ? (IOS Only)

Don’t worry, you can purchase a new PeerPark device, remove your old device and sync the new device to your existing profile.
